People Empowerment Alliance for Creativity & Education (PEACE) is a Maryland-based, globally operating nonprofit, registered in 2021 although it started providing services in 2020. PEACE was established to empower and support the underprivileged, including women, minorities, and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, to create positive impacts on their lives. Its primary objective is to ensure spiritual, social, economic, educational, and environmental transformation, which is achieved through several programs such as innovation and entrepreneurial development programs (IEDP), women empowerment programs, charity, and educational initiatives.
During the unprecedented year of 2020, people across the world experienced a significant impact on their lives with the advent of COVID-19. Whilst this crisis resulted in an inestimable loss in the financial arena and in lives, it also gave rise to waves of inspiration and innovation by people tapping into various new avenues of networking and harnessing the expertise of people worldwide. Riding the wave of these developments, PEACE came up with a creative way to promote holistic well-being through educating people on the vital aspects of entrepreneurship, health, and spiritual and mental well-being.
Reports show that around 30 million people in the US and over 220 million worldwide became unemployed as a result of COVID-19 as of May 2020 (UN Labor Experts, June 2021). Establishing a nonprofit organization to support and guide these adversely impacted people is an urgent need at the present time. Therefore, PEACE has identified entrepreneurial training and development opportunities as the first-round solution to enabling those thus affected to achieve greater financial security.
According to nutrition data, malnutrition and diseases associated with obesity are responsible for over 678,000 annual fatalities in the US. The number of fatalities, and the fact that over half of the population is afflicted with ailments associated with diabetes, heart disease, and cancer, demonstrate the unhealthy state of Americans’ dietary habits. (Center for Science in the Public Interest, 2021). If this is the situation in the US, we can only imagine what the situation must be like in developing and underdeveloped countries. Hence, the second goal of PEACE is to educate people about the value of healthy lifestyles. Furthermore, we have observed that many people’s lives are filled with stress and younger generations are no longer affiliated with any religious organization. In 2020, for example, The National Alliance on Mental Illness reported that 21% of American adults, which is one in five adults, have a mental disease (52.9 million people). Research projects further that by the year 2050, almost 35 million young people who were initially raised in Christian families will no longer identify as Christians (The Great Opportunity - The American Church in 2050). In an attempt to proactively address this situation, PEACE also focuses on providing spiritual and mental guidance services grounded in the health principles and teachings of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Additionally, despite the fact that we live in a modern era and have a modern mindset, research shows that stereotypes of minorities and women still exist. There are a range of issues that illustrate the necessity for the promotion of egalitarian values that form the foundation for an egalitarian society. PEACE aims to promote the values of an egalitarian society, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, or caste. PEACE seeks to do this by promoting equality among all people of different genders, races, religions, and castes.
